I always thought the turbo had to be right near the engine. There is a kit for the Corvette where the 2 turbos are mounted at the REAR of the car, cool.

This is called the STS turbo kit i believe.. pretty interesting design.

i've seen that done on Trucks where they placed a turbo on a 1st gen SVT Lightning and i thought it was weird at first too. but i guess it makes sense on certain cars.

i believe they do this because of a lack of space underneath the hood of corvettes and gto's. I think its cool cuz you kinda don't need an inter cooler with all of that charge piping going to the front of the car.

^^^ It does, it has a few strange issues, getting oil in and out of the turbo, as well... Also, not sure if it has ever happened, but people talk about having your turbo stolen off the car.

It has lotsa issues, but it does work. I'm sure its fun to tune. this was around in WWII on some airplanes, so its not "new".

i hope ur not planning on using it for daily driving cause a hot turbo and water puddles do not mix very well, that and prepare for a bunch of pipe work! but good luck

I have a K&N filtercharger on the filter that did a pretty good job of repelling water and I am working on fabricating a splash shield. If there is standing water you are screwed with this system on the Focus. There is just no good place to put the filter where it is sheltered but also has access to positive pressure areas to take in air. This isn't my daily driver anyway, just a fair/good weather car.

You wouldn't think so, but Lingenfelter has squeezed 427 single turbo motors into C4s and C5s.
