trying to start the car for the first time in years, have new motor and trans and i CANNOT get the fuel pump to kick on and the fuel gauge is reading empty with ten gallons of gas in it....any ideas?



btw this is a 03 zetec

Then I'd have to say nothing is getting power. The gauge and the fuel pump both run through this little guy:




That is the fuel pump control module. It's located under the rear seat on the passenger side. Flip the seat up and pull the carpet back and make sure it's plugged in, not sure why it would come undone but worth a shot.

ya i have no interior in the car so access to that is easy, mine is in a black covered box tho not open like that. says fuel pump driver. Im going to try and get ahold of a volt meter, just gotta find out which wires are for what...i looked at the manual and wrote down the fuses and relays im about to go out there and check them..

ok so i pulled the lid off the tank and fiddled in there making sure the wires where still connected and such put the lid back on and turned the key, the pump still isnt coming on but the gauge is now reading, so i took the pump out of the tank the filter on the bottom of the canister is torn and gummed up from sitting so long...so now my mission is to test the motor and see if its any good...
