I was driving and all of a sudden when i put my car in 3rd, nothing happened, wouldnt accellerate, shifted to 4th, accelerated fine, 5th, nothing, so i pulled over and had no first gear, 2nd and 4th still worked. reverse worked until i took it out of reverse, then i had no gears at all. I can put the gearshift in 1st and move straight across to 5th. If I move the shifter, the rod going into the trans does move.

i have seen this once before on a zx3. pull your shifter boot up and see if both cables are hooked to your shifter. in our instance we had to fabricate a new bushing to reattach the second cable. ford says this is a very common problem.

Yeah, I snapped my shifter and none of my gears worked... HA HA, might do like Snake3467 said and pull the boot up and inspect before you assume that every gear went out in your tranny...

The same exact thing happened to me....It was the pin that holds the linkage to the shaft inside the trans. Pull your intake, battery, tranny mount and you will see where the linkage goes into the trans. pull the plate off with the linkage attached to it and look at the pin that holds the upper to the lower shaft. Mine was broke off, put a new pin in and works just like new.
