Anyone know how easy/hard/expensive it would be to switch my automatic trannyin my 2012 to a manual. Just a thought.

Shouldn't be hard at all. Take the car back to the dealer and tell them you want one with a manual.

At this point trying to do a manual swap on these cars is dumb. The cost of a transmission would be way more than the hit you might take on a trade it.

I'd imagine in a car like this the swap would be unbelievably hard. With all the electronics, sensors, modules, etc. that probably have to do with the transmission and shifter, it would be a painstaking amount of work.

Gone are the days where you can take a transmission from a Ford Escort, Kia Sephia, or Mazda 323/Protege and the accompanying linkages, pedal assemblies, and shifters and they all interchange perfectly (same engine, basically) with nothing but a change in hardware being needed.

I'd say if you want a manual, trade-in for a manual and cut your losses if it's such a big deal.

Otherwise, enjoy the car as it is and when the ST comes out, then think about swapping!

Thats what i figured, my original solution was to trade mine in for an st when they come out. and it seems like it is actually the most logical decision as well. Thanks.
