From what I can tell there are two warranty extensions for transmissions in the infamous Focus transmission debacle. The first 14M01 covers everything trans related for cars built before June 5 2013. The second 14M02 covers just the more major issues but not everything for cars built up to sometime in 2015.

Of course my car was built a few months after the first warranty extension but I've just had an issue that is not covered by the second warranty extension. Namely the transmission input seal is leaking.

To add insult to injury, it specifically states in 14M01 that "Vehicles having a build date of June 6, 2013 or later have improved transmission input seals that are not likely to experience leaks." Ha!

Just went over the 60,000 regular warranty when this was discovered and now 2 dealerships have said, which seems technically true, that I'm on the hook for the cost. Has anyone been successful in getting issues like mine resolved where Ford actually paid to fix their known flawed product (or anything similar covered under 1 but not 2 warranty extension) ?

Thanks

What was the symptom that made you take it to the dealer? Asking because I believe my 14 with 49k miles might have a transmission bearing issue and it might be because it ran low on transmission fluid.

What did you end up doing about it?
