Hey guys, this question is actually on my Dad's focus and not mine. He has an 01 with the spi engine and IB5 manual transmission. 5th gear just dropped out on his transmission. When I am looking up junkyard listings...it is listing three different model numbers for the IB5 from that year. Do you know if any IB5 will drop in, or do I have to match up the specific transmission code? The reason I ask is I found an IB5 for $100 which has a different transmission code than his...but it looks the same. Thanks!

if the ib5 is for an spi motor then any ib5 out of a focus should fit.

good to know...I think it may be a long-term project. In the meantime I'm giving him my focus...and I'm getting another car. I guess 220,000 wasn't bad out of an IB5 huh? I'll probly change the head out on that car too so that a valve seat doesn't fall into a cylinder lol.

220K is not bad at all. Do the tranny and keep it going, or just drive it for a while as a 4 speed! I would. Whatcha gonna hurt, the tranny is already toast, run it with 4 gears.
