Well, the time has come for new tires, and I'm taking polls for what to buy. I'm on a college budget, and thus getting help with the purchase, so I'm limitted in choice, and pretty much have it all narrowed down. The car came with the 185/65/R14's, but since the handling seemed to suck, I'm trying to ratchet the size up to 195/60R14's, which some places refuse to quote me prices for (Firestone and Sam's Club, not sure why.....Goodyear and Sears had no problem mounting a wider tire). Anyway, these are the top choices:
1. Falken Ziex ZE-512, P195/60R14, $330
2. Kumho Solus HP4 716, P195/60R14, $330
3. Michelin Symmetry, P185/65R14, $300
All prices include mounting, balancing, disposal, new valve stems, lifetime rotations, and road hazzard warranty. I researched the above 3 online, and all got favorable reviews. Other choices that research has led me to lean away from (the Integrity and Dunlop got particularly awful reviews:
4. Firestone FR380, P185/65R14, $300
5. Goodyear Integrity, P185/65R14, $270 (no rotations, no hazzard)
6. Ultra HP4, P195/60R14, $400
7. Dunlop SP40, P185/65R14, $200
8. Goodyear Allegra, P185/65R14, $260
9. BF Goodrich Touring T/A Pro, P185/65R14, $230
I couldn't find any info on the Ultra HP4 (it was at the goodyear store), Goodyear Allegra, or BF Goodrich (both Sam's Club specials), and therefor, no reviews. The Goodyear Integrity, not only got bad reviews, but it was OE on my car, handled like crap, and only lasted 19,000 miles. Thanks in advance for any input.
