OK, so my OE tires in the front are wearing thin. My fault for not rotating them enough. But I digress. I know the tire size, so thats not an issue. I just wanted some opinions on the tires I am considering.

Kumho Ecsta ASX: VR rated
Kumho 716 Solus: HR rated
Falken Ziex ZE-512: HR rated

I am going to purchase and install this weekend, so any opinions would be appreciated.

I do live in Los Angeles so I shouldn't have an issue with flat spots due to cold. Too often.

I've got the Falken Ziex ZE-512 and so far they've been great for the price I paid for them (only $75 each, thanks to Sears price matching). They've handled real well in dry and wet conditions, in fact even better than the stock Firestones. But you might have to be careful with snowy conditions. I've had some rear fishtailing occur doing only 40 on the freeway, in only about an inch of unplowed snow.

Although I don't think I've ever had a set of all-season tires that were all that great in snow anyway. So if snow isn't a big problem in your area, I'd recommend them. One other thing is that some people say these tires don't last more than 35k miles. Maybe that's why they're cheap, I don't know. I wish I could tell you whether there's any truth to that, but so far they've handled beautifully on most roads.

Thanks for the info Moose, I had the Ecsta's on my 73 Beetle and liked them. But I figure that all three are a similar price I would try and get some opinions from the FF community before I purchase.

yep got my ECSTA'S from discount tire installed all 4 plus $25 replacement warranty for about $380. I LOVE these tires!! I have owned the FALKEN Ziex on my 96 escort, great tires and all, but like mentioned above, didnt last long. Granted I do drive kinda hard on corners etc, but after 10,000 it looked like half the tread was gone. for the price sure grab the falkens, but if youre keeping the car for a while and want good all season go with the Kumho's.

I have about 5,000 miles on the ecstas so longevity is an issue i cant vouch for, but so far so good still look brand new. Great all season performance tires. Not the best in snow over 2-3 inches but handles slush very well. good luck trying to find another set with competitive traits/price that IS good in the snow.

Hope this helps.
