I bought Massive's keyed crank (the guys at the machine shop got it to balance to 0.27 grams and said it was one of the nicer condition cranks they have seen in a while) and keyed sprocket for my 2.3 build however the teeth on the sprocket are too big for the 2.3 chain that I have. My 2.0 chain fits the sprocket just fine. The 2.3 chain that I have is from an 03 2.3. Perhaps ford changed the chain links for the 05-07 models.

Anyways, anyone have any suggestions for me? Maybe a ranger or a mazda 2.3 chain will work?

I see that CFM has a 2.3 05-07 timing chain that appears to have the correct linkage, however shipping to my part of the woods takes way too long.

There are 2 # of tooth gears the 2.0 and the 2.3 , I have never seen the 2.0 or the 2.3 having 2 teeth counts , maybe I am wrong

Are you sure the 2.3 gear you have isnt a 2.0 ?

There is the link to the keyed drive gear. It says it is for 38 tooth chains and will work with the focus 2.0 and 2.3 chains. Below are some pictures that show that it will work with my 2.0 chain and not my 2.3. Perhaps there is a different style of 2.3 chain that has the right teeth count? I read in one thread that someone used a ranger timing chain from 01-11 however when I looked it up it has 138 links, pitch 8 mm. The 2.3 chain that I have has 174 links, pitch 6.35 mm.

Number of teeth, i just wentnbackmand looked at my notes on our build. Escape 2.3 and focus 2.3 use different ones. The tooth count determine which one. Hope this helps, it fixed the problem for us. M

I think I might have found something that will work:
