I'm trying to inspect the timing belt on my 2000 ZTS (ZTEC) motor. I removed the two bolts on the top cover and it looked like it should pull off on the bottom (behind the engine mount), maybe by pulling the "ears" off as if it would snap off the bottom. I didn't want to force it. Do I actually need to remove the engine mount or are there more bolts down there? Again, just trying to pull off the top cover.

Thanks,
BB

Yes you have to remove the motor mount completely.
Here are some steps for you:
1) remove the coolant expansion tank
2) unclip the power steering fluid reservoir
3) unscrew the four bolts and withdraw the upper cover as far as possible
4) lift the engine with a jack at the timing belt end of the oil pan
5) progressively loosening the right-hand mounting bolts/nutsremove the motor moun
6) to completelyremove the cover, the engine right-hand mounting studs must be unscrewed
7) unclip the cylinder head temperature sensor wiring plug attached to the rear of the cover, then lift off the upper cove and remove it.

Here is a small guide for you, good luck!
