Well, at 19K miles my POS Pirelli's P6's are shot on my 05 ST! [:(!]

Time for new tires but first, a couple questions...

Would upgrading to 17" wheels help the handling of the ST?

Would I be able to simply bolt on standard 2003 or 2004 SVT 17" rims to my ST with no modification to the suspension?

Should I decide to go for the SVT wheels, what size tires would I need to buy so that there are no errors in the sppedometer?

Should I just replace the worn out Pirelli's with Kuhmo's or some other brand?

Thanks in advance for your help guys!

yes and no, tires on 17's have shorter sidewall, helps with cornering, but 17s weigh more which increase roational inertia (slightly slower acceleration and braking)

yes, SVT wheels fit no problem

215/45/17 tires are close in diameter to your old tires (205/50/16 i assume), or 205/45/17 is close too. either way the difference is minor (~3% maybe)

kuhmos are good tires too.

The SVT wheels will fit your car with no problem.
As for tires, I've had Bridgestone Potenza RE-750's on my car for over a year now and I love them, a little pricey though.

205/45 17 is the closest, but I'd just go with the 215/45 17s. The worst that will happen is your speedometer will read about 1.5 MPH slower than you're actually going.
