I am trying to install TPS (throttle position sensor). I followed instruction using this link....http://www.myfordfocus.com/how-to/65mm.htm

I am one heck of a time removing TB. I got all four bolt out that holds TB. When I try to pull TB, it does not even move. I used hammer and tried everything, but no movment. Any clue, why it is stuck that real bad. I have 125k miles on my car. Is there any way to loosen that up so I can install TPS.

thanks

thats bizarre...definitely should just pop off as far as i know...granted you have a zetec and i dont know how those compare to the duras but i cant imagine it being more complicated than those 4 bolts...

you cant install the TPS without taking it off?

that is really wierd...really random too...

are you the original owner, or have you ever gotten it serviced at a shady looking repair center?

if so maybe they used gasket maker (basically silicone) instead of the actually gasket...can you see any black or clear "bead" around the tb...

that would be a long shot, but the tb isnt something i would think of seizing up like that...it just kinda rests on their???

i WOULD NOT try spraying any type of lubricant on it as it will get into the intake manifold and etc.

mtadd162 - Yes, it's Bizzare. It's really pissing me off !

I drive 2000 SE ( SPI), not zetec. The TPS screws are rusted and there is not enough room for the screw driver. So, I decided to pull TB first to install newTPS. I could not find any other resource so decided to myfordfocus.com link for installation.

subtleshift - No, I am not the original owner. I bought this one five years ago. I go to Dealer for all my work. I see black "bead" around the TB. I have not sprayed anything yet. Not sure, what would be my next step.

well if there was a bead then maybe stupidly they used like high temp silicone or something, cause that can stick pretty well, i know my oilpan was PITA to get off...how did u try prying it off, its just "sketchy" cause you dont wanna scratch it and wreck ur IM

I cut the black part. Didn't pry yet. It's getting little frustrating. You are right that it's stucked pretty bad. Can I hammer this thing ? I tried that very lightly. But it does not move.

The only things that hold the TB in place are the 4 screws and teh harness for the tps. o, and the throttle cable, but that shouldn't affect it casue w/ the other things removed, it "should "just pop right off!! lol, sucks man, hope u get her off!!
