Ok, here's my question. I had my wheel bearings replaced in Oct '07. Today when I took my car in for tires, they told me that my output shaft seal needed replaced.

IS THIS A SEAL THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WITH THE BEARRINGS?
I hate to pay the $175 if it's something that they should have done.

HOW HARD IS THIS TO FIX?

it's not generally done with bearings unless it was already leaking. you'll need a seal puller to remove it and a hammer and block of wood to reinstall it. it's actually very simple. seperate the lower balljoint from the spindle/knuckle, you can also remove the strut from the knuckle to make it even easier. then remove the axle and that's it, you'll be at the seal.

Ok, well I guess I'll talk to my instructor to see when we will cover that in class. I'm going to school to become an auto tech.

Also need to replace the tie rod end, too bad it's on the opposite side.
