Don't want big drop, don't want overly stiff ride (got that in my other car), don't want my wife to object.

Can't seem to get pics uploaded ... are they too big at 97 kb?

I know some of you have SVT Suspension Kits and that there are other kits out there and that this may have been beaten to death in the past, but at the risk of boring everyone, what do you guys think?

Best bang for the buck bar none. Performance springs, shocks, and bigger rear sway resulting in significant handling improvements for less than 300.00 is amazing.

This "best bang for the buck" phrase is having an effect on me.

So, are you guys saying you now corner flatter, you were lowered only modestly, and you didn't give up much in the ride department? Dang! That's what I want!

Okay, Mike, PM sent! [:D]

Okay, talked to Mike, and I'm more confused.

Now, I'm thinking I'd like to go with the Ford Racing kit Mike has like focusin has on his car. I've got the same size tires (215/45R17) on similar wheels, so the drop would look similar.

And, of course, Mike is a salesman, so now he's talkin' sway bars and this and that ... just glad I'm not having a beer with him [drinking] or he'd be selling me more stuff!

(j/k Mike, thanks for your help!)

From what I've gathered up till now, the Ford Racing kit will lower the car about 1.5" and the SVT kit will lower it about 1/2". Spring rates are roughly the same.
It's usually in the area of .75" or so...give or take. The Ford Racing Kit may give you some problems going of some bumps or some inclines. I dropped my Mazda 6 about 1.25" and it can't make it into the garage anymore without some ramps. I also seen a few people with it and if you put any kind of weight in the back it sags pretty bad with the Ford Racing Kit. But if you don't put much in the back, then you won't sag.

You'll be pleased with whatever you get. The SVT is the best bang for the buck by far!

Sway Bars will help you elminate body roll. The stock rear sway bar is 20mm and the SVT is 21mm. Not much of a difference on paper, but makes a world of difference when driving it. Like stated before a suspension kit for under $300 is the best you can get for the cost. If you can, find someone that has a SVT and drive it. You'll notice the difference right away without sacrificing ride quality.

My car with the SVT Suspension kit. This first pic is only a few days old and hasn't settled yet. The 2nd isn't a good shot, but you can tell the difference:

BTW, Mike...... how much do you sell your kits for?

My Focus is my DD and has a trailer hitch, thus does see "some" loading on the back. A little sag is okay, but will the FRK cause the car to bottom out in back with, say, a 200-lbs tongue load? It's not like I trailer a lot, but I do it frequently enough.

I don't think that it will bottom out, but it will like like your suffering from saggy but syndrome. My 6 does, even with out anything in the back. But that's due to the type of springs. It's a 6 thing [;)]

After seriously considering the SVT kit, I ended up going with the Ford Racing kit and the FRPP swaybar kit.

Thanks to Geezer, camurphy2, lildisco, jman89, 02SilverSVT, and especially b16sir1991 and focusin for all your feedback on both sides of the fence as I plunk down my mod money. My wallet will be forever grateful. [:D]

Thanks, guys!!!
