I have a 2000 Focus SE. I recently noticed a drop or two of coolant, once parked, under the ride front side of my vehicle. Right below the pulleys. I would like to know if there is a way to check to see if the water pump is leaking? If so, has anyone replaced one before? It looks like a pain. Another question, how long can a leaking water pump be used before it MUST be changed? I asked that because this is my wife’s car and she doesn’t drive often or very far. Also, I have not noticed any loss of coolant in the coolant reservoir. Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Okay. I had the local garage check my vehicle. The performed a pressure test and discovered that it was a leak at the thermos housing. Has anyone replaced one? Seems somewhat easier than a water pump. Again, the question, how long can I drive it with a minor leak coming from the thermostat housing? Anyone have any experiences with a similar issue?
