I'm not sure what is going on i have a 2000 zx3 was driving when the temp gauge dropped to cold and the engine rev up to 3500 rpm? Any ideas? And thank you for any help

Normally when the gauge drops to Cold, it means your thermostat is stuck open. The "fail safe" ones are supposed to do that rather than sticking closed and overheating the engine.

Not sure why that would make it rev high, though.

I hooked it up to a obd reader and it tells me its the cht so I guess I'm off to the auto parts store in the morning

Depending on the "code" it could be sensor OR wiring/connection to the sensor.

Look the wiring/connection over close since you had recently replaced a sensor.
