Does this exist? It stands to reason that is one Ford ATX with a lock up converter can do it, then any one should be able to.

For those unfamiliar, what I have done in the past and want to do now, is to lock the TC indefinitely at cruising. Before, it has been done by grounding out a signal wire. Has anyone done this?

My wife has a very bad habit of letting off of the throttle, then getting back in, I'm wanting to stop the TC from unlocking... So, can it be done?? I know that it can possibly cause the OD light to flash, I'm not worried about that...

With a tune you can change when the TC locks up by RPM and I think speed

The car will stall and shut off and have issue when coming to a stop with it locked all the time

Thanks for the insight, but that's not what I was asking. Mainly, if someone knows the wire that needs to be hacked to lock the TC. I am fully aware of the PCM's capability. But I want the control.

I may not have been clear enough. I would of course give control back to the PCM after I decided to decelerate.

So you're gonna put it on a momentary switch?
No... Driving... Get up to speed, when the TC locks, close the switch to keep it locked.... When I get to my exit, or need to slow to do whatever, I open the switch and return control to the PCM....

Yes, when it tries to unlock, and I wont let it, it may very well start flashing the OD light or throw some sort of code.... That's OK. As long as there is no sort of limp mode.

I am going to back out of this one , if you put the wrong voltage to that wire or at the wrong time you could fry the ECU with feed back or the wrong voltage

If you figure this out...I'd like to hear about it. My autoX doesn't seem to really lock up even in OD...RPM floats when you put some gas to it...no codes or OD light issues.

You wouldn't be putting voltage to it. Only grounding a signal.

With this setup, you'll be able to fool the computer into thinking that it has control, therefore, no light... Now all I need is a wiring schematic.

i think this is really quite cool alil scary sense there is a risk of damage but if done correctly it should work right .. good as long as u dont forget about it when slowing down of course ... i havnt drove enough on the highway to see the tc lock up at all it seems like the zetec wagon need constant play with the throttle to get up hills and stuff . so im always downshifting around town . but if i stay at 65 or lower it seems fine with barely any throttle so i dont see the point of this mod .. i think it be better just to change ur driving habbits

Well, there are tons of other options, but I want to do this. I could program the PCM but I want FULL control.

Also, I have this mod done on my 2000 F250, and the PCM's are identical... So it would stand to reason that, due to the fact that there is no TCM that somewhere, there is a similar wire with similar operation.

Yeah, well, we'll see. If I can find the wire, and tap into it, I'll put it to work. If it makes even 1mpg it will be worth it since $20 bucks builds the box.

Sleeper I was wondering the same thing about the TC lock up. But its my wifes car so I have not wanted to touch it. LOL I had Jody at DPtuner do a similar adjustment on my 99 F150. At lower speeds the TC unlocked. I am not sure how many RPMS the TQ needs to be spinning to keep fluids flowing. This mod works great on my dads SD. I will look into the wiring also. Lets compare notes.
