Has anyone ever installed a Tachometer?

In all of my other vehicles a tach has come standard along with all the other gauges in the factory dashboard.

I really dislike driving without one.
How hard is it to install?

I have moderate mechanical abilities, but I have never done anything regarding gauges.
Could I just tap into the wires underneath the dash?
If not, what needs to be done to install one on a 2004 Focus?

You can get a wiring diagram for your car and should be able to find the wire(s) that run into the guage cluster that sends the signal for a tach and tap into those. I did that in my neon cause my speedometer went out and I basically drove by the tach.

I think you can swap clusters to one with a factory tach direct swap.(not sure,
but I think it's plug & play) I did this with a tach-less civic..worked great.

That would be better than a ricer tach IMO

That's a good idea. Im going to look into getting one from the junk yard out of a Focus.
