Just replaced the thermostat housing on my '02 Zetec and noticed that the motorcraft OEM thermostat has a breather hole and the "statin" does not. According to the Haynes manual the breather hole should be oriented up when installed.
Question I have is why the breather hole in the original t-stat and is this important when replacing?

I couldn't see the screen he was looking at when he was looking up the part number but he got the temp. rating right so I figured I got the right one. I have never seen a T-Stat with a breather hole on it before so I didn't know how important it is.
