To clarify: 00-04 including the SVT use a small ball joint and strut.02-04 SVT Steering knuckle is SVT specific..05 -05.5 use the larger ball joint with the smaller strut. Mid year 2005 went to the larger diameter strut and ball joint. The upper strut mount is different and not compatible with the older cars. 06-11 use the larger strut and ball joint. SVT front brake caliper brackets will bolt up to 05-11 knuckles. Lower control arms and knuckles from 06-11 will bolt up to the 00-05 but require a strut adapter. On the rear: All 00-07 rear subframes are the same with the exception of the sedans. Some came without rear sway bars. The best way to convert to SVT rear brakes is to grab the whole rear subframe with trailing arms and the rear section of the parking brake cables and brake lines. This gives you the correct dust shields as well as the larger rear sway bar and lower, stiffer springs. I can pull a complete SVT subframe in 45 minutes. ST sedans with the 2.3 had rear disc brakes but are not the same size as the SVT I believe. Traction control; I'll throw this in there due to misinformation. Traction control on the 00-07 has nothing to do with the brakes other than the fact it uses the abs sensors to sense wheel spin. I saw a thread where it was stated as fact that it only came with rear disc brake equipped cars. It is strictly timing retard. I have a 06 ZX5 with rear drum brakes and traction control. I also have an 06 ZX3 without abs so there doesn't seem to be any absolutes. Hope this helps.

Use 05-07 control arms and an omni strut adapter and they will work. Buy these knuckles. SVT brakes bolt onto the 05-11 knuckles. You need the calipers, brackets and svt brake lines

Assuming the OP was going to replace his springs/struts anyways wouldnt the 06-07 struts work in his 04 (with the 06-07 Moog knuckles)?

Thanks

Wagon rear subframe is unique (I just looked into this for my wagon). I believe sedans and hatches use basically the same but some may not be drilled for sway bar mounts.

What is different? When I look up the upper mount on RA it lists them as compatible for 00-07.

Thanks

I'm sorry. Let me clarify. If you use the 06-07 spindles, strut assembly ,lower control arm ,it will work. The spring and strut is a larger diameter than the early model. Most don't do that as aftermarket performamce struts are readily available for the 00-04 but not for the later mode so it kind of defeats the purpose. Why they make the omni adapter to put the 00-04 struts on the 06-07. The mount that bolts to the car may be the same but the top hat for the spring is different

Alright folks bad news I think for the long Hall I'm getting upgraded parts for 2004 no convertions to svt etc

Have decided Sachs all around
Power stop caliper,pads,rotors kit
Moog sway bar links
Master bushings set
Acdelco control arms

I'm sure there's better upgrades but this is all from Rock Auto so there is some limitations on choices

Thanks for all the advice

I dont see tie rods on your list. The control arms come with new bushings.

I love this forum I will also look for tie rods didn't even dawn on me.

Yeah I realized the control arm comes with bushings but the master set has the bushings for the sway bar it's self, rear links, rear trail arm, bump stops, and rear spring caps(tech not the correct wording for that part woops).

If your wanting to upgrade your front brakes down the road/later from 10's to 11.8''s now would be the time to do it. btw the svt calipers/pads are also bigger.

Don't need to replace the inner if you are sure they are not worn. But if you are... You can "upgrade" to another year which has a larger OD which means you need to outer tie rod ends but if your already getting those and replacing the inner...

If you are going to do all this work the most overlooked bushings on the car are the front sway bar and the steering rack.Reason? You have to drop the front subframe which is really easy btw..if your car has over 100k the inner tie rods are worn. I like this tool.. https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/performance-tools-rod-tool-w83027/11931882-p?c3ch=PLA&c3nid=11931882-P&adtype=pla_with_promotion&product_channel=online&store_code=&gclid=Cj0KEQjw3PLnBRCpo8PCoaGM99MBEiQAppRuC-a90tLIAX5w-ywlKCYYOaiHzYndB3kAEiZrbBPnaCcaApX88P8HAQ&gclsrc=aw.ds

I would need to double check but the '05 or some year between 05 and 07 used the same rack but upgraded the inner tie rod to a larger Outside Diameter (OD) rod. this makes it stronger and less likely to bend. I have been running this on my Foci for years. but my car is such a miss match of parts ordering new parts always takes a few rounds to make sure I get the right part.

When you go this route of using OEM parts from different years you do get some looks when you say I need this part from this Foci, this part from this year, this part from this trim... and when asked got a lot of projects going on? you just say no, just the one.

Looking at my past history orders at Rock Auto...

I am seeing a 2007. So MOOG EV80632 x 2 (one for each side) and ES80580 x2 (one for each side).

I ordered this back in 2009 and made this modification to my 2001 ZX3 Foci. Its a "easy one" since it only impacts the tie rods (inner and outer) but does not require that bump to the different knuckle.

Please do a bit more research and ask and get confirmation form someone else before blindly buying the exact same part numbers....

EDIT: And since they are for a 2006-2008 Foci. and they are MOOG with full life time warranty, do NOT make the mistake of when submitting the return of saying you no longer have the 2007 Foci.... that will "void" the warranty since you are using it on a different make/model/year than they have in their system.
