Okay, I'm kinda sure on this but I'll ask anyway. I wanna ditch the Crap-O-Matic in my Focus. We have a '97 Escort with the SPI motor and a 5 speed box. I think the tranny will bolt up to my motor no problem. I know I will need a new PCM, flywheel, pedal box. Will I need a new brake master cylinder since it is used for the clutch?

your right, just pull out the engine and tranny, i think 97 had the 1.9 spi? but maybe has 2.0 and not to sure, but its worth a shot, and jeff might pop in and tell ya, he has a escort

The 'Scort has the Split Port Injection 2000 engine. Don't want the motor, got too many miles. Gearbox is solid though. Obviously a new clutch kit will be used when/if I do this. I'm just trying to get a feel for what else I may need that I haven't already listed above. Saw another thread that said PCM swap may not be needed and I can just use mine so long as I get the proper wiring harness. Can anyone verify this?

if you don't want the scort motor and want to part with it I would pay $100 for it

It wont work. The tranny will bolt up to your SPI engine, but that's it. Nothing else will be compatible like axels, shift linkage or mounts. You have to remember, the Escort is a Mazda based chassie (and mazda tranny) with a Ford engine, while the Focus is a Ford engine, ford chassie and ford gear box.

oh, and Ford never made a 1.9 SPI. There was the 1.9 SEFI in the 91-96 Escorts, and the 2.0 SPI in the 97 and newer.

I figured the Escort tranny WAS an IB5. Haven't really researched this too much yet, gonna be a while before this project gets underway (if at all).
