Hey all. Can someone point me in the right direction on how to get the shifter boot off the SVT? Or shoot me the link on the how to for this if there is one. I really don't want to break anything on the car at this point. Thanks.

its easier to just take the whole middle console out screws under front and rear cup holders!

It's just held on by tabs. It's not all that hard to get out as long as you are careful and don't start yanking anything.

I took mine off to change a knob and it took 10 seconds. Just put your fingers on the very bottom on the side off the boot that is closest to the back seats. Then pry forward with your fingers towards the front of the car without pulling up, then you should feel that it is very easy to pull up on the boot and take it off from there.

If your putting on a sts It might be easiest to take out the console as suggested

As said above, the boot is very easy to remove with your fingers, but you may just want to remove the console.

Then again, since you have an EAP, it is possible to do the swap by just removing the traction/seat heater bezel - check out WD40's how-to if you haven't already.

(You'll note he uses a screwdriver to remove the boot, bu I've done it by hand at least six times.)

are all of the short throws for an svtf just a shorter stick? i dont really want mine to be any lower ive seen ones for other cars that mount on the trans and change the linkage to shorten throw but havent seen one for an svt yet

Get the height-adjustable one from C-F-M and you'll wonder how you lived without it.

Apparently, you can request a longer shaft to maintain stock height - although I've found the slightly-lower-than-stock height of the highest setting of the one above to be perfect.

I bet it was - it was enough of a PITA with console removed, so I can't imagine doing it WD40s way...

(Totally worth the PITA when it was all said and done, of course.)

Holden is correct, get the cfm one, its adjustable and it isn't just a shorter stick. It changes the pivot point. its all high tech , you'l understand when you put it in.

also get one of these steeda shift balls. they look good because they're metal but the rubber keeps one from freezing and burning hand in cold and hot weather.

Agree on the cfm adjustable sts. Bought from the original group buy and haven't any problems. It's been on for years.

I had my shifter swapped out in less than an hour. I went with the CFM adjustable shifter. I will never go back to the stock one again. Thanks for everyones help.
