I keep hearing totally contradicting views on what to run your tire pressure at for drags

could you guys sum up what you run and why i had always heard lower the front and increase the rear but now im hearing over inflate the fronts from some people if you could clarify some of this it would help me a ton

On regular street tires dropping the tire pressure offers no advantage, other than inproper wear.

I run 35psi on mine in the front, 45 rear.

A street radial doesn't have a flat contact patch when underinflated, the tread curves upward. So when using a street tire, you want to have normal tire pressure, maybe even slightly above normal.

A drag tire is different, the tread lays flat at lower pressures, allowing you to lower the pressure and give the sidewalls some flex (making the contact area even bigger)

Raising the air pressure in the rear reduces the rolling resistance of the tires. (they aren't participating in making the car for forward anyway, so reducing the drag makes them LESS of an anchor)

Edit.. forgot to include my specs..

I run drag radials on the front. 25psi seems to be the best for them.

when I ran street tires, 35 seemed to be the best.

Rear tires I have set to 51psi (their max)
