Hello my wonderful FF community, I am having trouble with the sunroof in my svt. I have the typical problem of only one button working for the sunroof & it will only move up/down, but wont open/slide into the roof. Yes, I have seen all the threads related (at least the ones I could fine) regarding the sunroof; I have tried reprogramming it but cannot fix the problem. I'm not sure if I am reprogramming it wrong or if there could be other options? The instructions for reprogramming seem pretty straight forward but I am not sure if I can "Tilt the moon roof into the vent position as far as possible" because the roof doesn't move to any positions by itself, it will only move it when I push the switch. Same as this guys description: "the roof will not close in the right spot anymore either (the opposite of what it said!). you just have to keep tapping the button little by little until it becomes flush with the roof now". Any ideas?? Thanks guys!!!!

Thanks NotReal, I appreciate the advice! I have dug around the sun roof a little, but don't have the slightest clue where the sunroof motor is.. Could you give me any helpful hints? Do i have to take apart the interior roof lining to get to it? Thanks,

When following reprogram instructions, movement of the sunroof IS accomplished by the button. What you're doing is resetting memory of limits to enable automatic movement again.

When following reprogram instructions, movement of the sunroof IS accomplished by the button. What you're doing is resetting memory of limits to enable automatic movement again.

I apologize for being unclear. So in terms of what I am experiencing with the sunroof: the sunroof will only respond to one button (when the front half of the toggle switch - facing the front of the car, is pressed). I'm not sure how the sunroof is supposed to work, since I bought the car like this. The sunroof will only move in the tilting position; in no way will it actually slide into the roof. Part of the resetting directions require to move the sunroof to the up-most vented position, but with my sunroof I have no clear way of telling when I get there. I have to tweak the button a little at a time to twitch it into what I judge to be the "most tilted position", but if I were to keep holding the button the sunroof will just start coming back down. When the button is held the sunroof just keeps going through that cycle of tilt up & down. When its going down it seems like it stops right when it should start sliding into the roof/moving backwards - but it doesn't. That's about the best description I got

If it only works when pushing the front, you're missing being able to push the rear & have it retract.

Can't "reprogram", because you only have one working button.

Normal operation, you can press the front to open the vent, press the back to lower it again. From closed, press the back to open it, and front to close again.

Check out that switch, you might need a new one if it's not working/repairable.

When it isn't programed it's a pain to get it just right or know where is right. So my guess is it isn't programed n needs a new switch.

Take switch out. Pop off the whole plastic piece that hold s it first. Use a small flat head. They have tabs, but be careful. Pop off switch cover n see if metal tab looks burnt, if it is then need new switch, if not try cleaning with flat head, you'll need to remove white plastic to get to em.

Sailor - True, but as far as I read there were other people that only had one functioning button (front as well) and were able to reset their roofs. This button is indeed the only one "required" for the reset procedure according to instructions.

Fierceintent - thanks for the helpful tip! I will take a look at this over the weekend and let you guys know! I was wondering how I could check the switch.

I have never dealt with a sunroof switch however; I have cleaned and fixed small switch contacts using sandpaper. It fixed my power windows problem.
