I noticed while changing my oil that the bottom of the oil pan has some serious rust. Has anyone else seen this? I sprayed it with Permentex rust stop. I am sure the header pipe is heating that areal. I plan the wrap the header soon, like before the weather turns bad here.

How hard is it to remove the pan? Do you have to remove other components first? I know the header needs to come off. I can fix or replace the pan when the header is off. Does anyone make an aftermarket pan?

The best thing I can think of is the high temp engine paint, the oil pan gets pretty hot. If it hasnt rusted through take a brillo pad or some scotch bright to it, then spray some high temp primer on it and then the high temp engine paint.

Taking off the pan isnt hard just a bunch of bolts

I usually wipe off the oil from the drain plug when I finish draining it, and spread it all over the oil pan. Keeps rust away. :)
