Has anyone ever had one fail and what could cause and oem flywheel to fail other than the abuse factor. Info on the car in question is about:2002 svt focus with 50k,and the oem flywheel failed.Just taking ideas on what could cause this.

Most of the early flywheel failures were due to improper installation.

Mine pretty much failed. I never really abused my car much but I noticed my clutch slipping ever so slightly at about 30k miles. I finally ended up replacing my clutch/flywheel with the TSB LuK clutch kit. My flywheel was as smooth as a baby's ass. My clutch was still fine actually and probably had another 70k miles of life left on it.

thanks for the info.The clutch i was told was good still,im not sure since i have not taken it out or have tested it myself.
