So I just popped a CEL light for my IMRC being stuck open on (bank 1)
I have noticed a difference in the cars driveability , so after further reading on here about people fixing or replacing theirs and before I start tearing into mine.
I was wondering if anyone has used an IMRC from another car/ platform.

I currently own a 99 mercury cougar which also uses a IMRC, so I have a few extra IMRC laying around for it, I was wondering if one of those would work?

BUMP an old thread-

I have been carrying a P1518 for weeks now, and finally got around to fixing it tonight.

I pulled the SVT IMRC, and laid it down on the floor next to a spare IMRC from my 2.5 V6 Cougar. The cable on the Focus unit was about 2 inches shorter, but otherwise, they were entirely identical.

Installed the Cougar IMRC, and it fixed everything.

For $14 from Pick 'n Pull, I can replace it a dozen times before hitting the price of one new one. Score!

Long story short - the IMRC from a 96-02 2.5L Duratec V6 (Ford Contour, SVT Contour, Mercury Mystique, Mercury Cougar) is perfectly interchangeable with the SVT Focus IMRC.
