ok so I am trying to replace my air filter but the screws have these rusted out bolt type things on the bottom of the screw and when I turn the screw the bolts turn with it. is there any way to take the whole filter box assembly out of the car so that I can clamp down on the bolts to get the screws out?

yep.

just take the intake tube off the air box and the throttle body. then you just pull straight up. its stuck in there with rubber gromets(sp) so it will be a little stiff.

it should come out with some force

oh ok sounds easy enough then. I can just unplug the MAF and disconnect the intake and just pull straight up and it should come out?

Don't pull too hard, you'll break the studs on the air box! Pull gently!
