Ok, i just got CFM's new adjustable short shifter and while trying to take off the shift knob from my current shifter, I stripped and chunked the two flat spots to take it off. So now I'm stuck. I can't get the knob off and I don't know what to do.

Any Ideas?

You're screwed. Better total the car.

Vise grips? Try putting a rubber glove or towel, or something somewhat compressible over it and locking down on it with vise grips or a monkey wrench. If you have an oil filter wrench, that might work too.

Sounds like the time for a good MOMO knob! (why does that sound dirty? Waaay too early in the morning!) [:D]

Take a piece of rubber like a serpentine belt, and you can use it like a makeshift wrench. It will take that knob off and wont hurt the leather. Ive done this s couple times because of the locktite on these damn things, lol

The best way that I have found to get them off is to use a strap-type oil filter wrench. It gets the job done with zero damage to the shift knob.
