So i have this problem where every know and then my throttle body sticks. Its a off and on kind of thing. I have also noticed that i gets worse during the winter. I went away for awhile but has starting to stick again when i installed my CAI and is making me mad. Has anyone had this problem before and what can i do to fix it. Will buying a new TB fix it. I have already checked ford and there is no recall on it.

thanks for the help

this is a very common problem. most people say cleaning will fix it for a good while, but not forever. the problem (in the simplest language i can muster) is that we have a metal plate inside a plastic tube, so they respond to temperatures differently and get stuck.

there was a tsb on this from ford. not a recall, but its a very common problem. i brought mine in and they replaced it free, no questions asked. in fact, i didnt even have to leave the car. just went in, told them the issue, and they ordered me a new TB right then and there. had it installed for free next day. so yeah, ford knows its an issue lol.

u could just get a new tb too,like a 67mm one.

i am also in the middle of a project i am TRYING to get to work for us, that u may be interested in too. if u can wait a bit, just try cleaning it for now.

Thanks guys. I think that i will clean it first and see how it does. I definetly is annoying having it stick. But if i did get a 67mm tb would that eliminate the promblem or would it still happen since 1-st said that it was a metal plate expanding and getting stuck. I already called a dealership and they said that i would have to pay to replace it. I quess you just got lucky nemisisenforcer.

that sucks, but it can really go by each dealer...some are better than others. i was still in warranty, so that might be why too. also, its much better if u go there in person, and discuss it. i have been told numerous times on the phone that i was gonna have to pay for this or that, but once there, it would be free. try it out.

The modified TBs being sold by some dealership or other (NE knows) can have the same problem. I've heard of people complaining about them sticking when their stock one didn't. The CFM and Cossie 67mm TBs, however, are all metal. Their housings also expand and contract a tiny bit, so they don't stick.

that isnt true. the stock DT is 65 mm, but the bore is actually only to 63mm. the plate is even thicker, when opened to WOT. you can get a 65mm or 67 mm for the DT. when Focus Central made them, they made 65mm as well. 67 is more touchy. which is why i dont want that. which is why i am working to bring you guys an alternative 65mm....cheap too!

the svt used to have a 70mm one made by FR. u can still find them on ebay sometimes.

oh, and the 67 might be better for the autos tho. i just know that i tried a 67 on a manual, and others have too, and took them off. just way too touchy.

I just drove to my local ford dealership today to see if they would replace it but they said no and that i would have to pay to have it replaced and that they would only replace it with another stock TB. how lame. So im going to get a new tb and it definetly seems like the 65mm is the way to go.
Are svt and duratec tb's the same?
How soon do you think it will be that you tb will be out?

depends on the supplier. they have one done, but its gotta be tested. i need to get it, so i can run it on my own car as a tester. so im not sure, could be a few more weeks. what i CAN tell u is that it will be much cheaper than what ull pay otherwise. [headbang]

like i said, depends on the supplier. once i know, i will be telling everyone.

thanks for trying, but your rep doesnt count until you get to 125 posts. so hold off on that for others, b/c once you give it once, you cant give it again to that same person for 1000 points.
