I have recently bought another ST170 and compared to my old one the handling isn't as confidence inspiring.

It seems to change direction on its own a bit over white lines, it doesn't seem to stick to the road as well as my old one and overall it just feels a bit skittish. Almost feels like it is sliding on oil sometimes, like the suspension isn't pushing the front wheels to the ground firmly enough.

It is a low mileage example (only 36k miles) has brand new PZero tyres and generally the front end feels tight and sharp, but the handling just doesn't seem to match up to this.

I will be checking the front shocks, but anything else I should be looking out for?

thanks for any input or advice.

Tie rod ends, ball joints, and alignment. If any (or all) of those are off, you can get wandering anytime the road surface changes.

If both wheels feel tight (no movement up-and-down, side-to-side, or in-and-out when jacked up) then go for an alignment at a decent place with a laser rack.
