Awesome! Will look great once it's all on. The hard part is waiting for winter to be over.

Wiped down, cleaned with soap, deep cleaned the back with heavy cleaner, rinsed, dried. Here they sit.

Heading out Monday to get the bends looked at and opinions on how to to about this process. I may just have the guy paint them if the price is right. I'm not sure yet, I have to pick his brain still.

They don't look bad. Curb rash is bad on a couple. If I go the powder coating route, I can't use jb weld, something about charges, someone elaborate please?

The last picture the paint isn't chipped, it's actually pitted a little.

Going to put 205-45-17 on these guys when the time comes way down the road. Then have dedicated snow tires on the stock 15's.

Thanksgiving Break
-strut mounts
-fuel filter
-maybe dip the roof.

I'm nervous about doing the mounts.

I finally did something that was actually build worthy. And I am proud of myself for accomplishing this, as little to some as it is.

I am halfway to replacing my strut mounts. It is only 5 bolts to take out the strut and spring.

Got them all cleaned up.

So I don't really know if the strut mounts are bad. I looked close at the spring and noticed they were scraping the paint off and the "holder" is dented it. Wierd thing is, they are on the same exact spot on each of them. Very odd.

Changed my oil, put my new fumoto oil plug in. It was a little tight on the top, scraped a little. But did work after first turn. See if it leaks in the morning.

So you're getting new caps?

Let us know how the plug goes!

Yes new strut mounts. That triangle looking thing at the top.

Oh I will. Very intrigued myself. Fit perfectly.

Peek up in there & see what those are hitting on, looks like the source of your noise.
Right that is what me and dad thought as well. SO the mounts were probably fine...Oh well...

You can see they are both dented in or something along those lines. So when i work on them tomorrow again, I will see if I can hit those out carefully.

That seems like the only thing i could do.

Its not what it is hitting on, its not being allowed to sit all the way flush against the top.

So will fixing it sit your car slightly lower?

The thought crossed my mind actually. I think it will? You can see in the picture where it basically sits now. Would be cool if it did go lower though...

I may have taller strut mounts which all negate that. I will post up what it ends up being tomorrow.

Naw, the top caps fit against the bearings that fit against the top mounts that bolt to the strut towers to locate the spring top position.

Clunking the side of the spring & cap won't lower the spring.

Tx, had some help but it's been a busier couple days then usual.

Hope the dings in the strut towers here turn out to be the simple fix for those springs hitting. Bang 'em out & good to go.

Oh yeah, everyone in my family laughs about modding a grandmas car. They are nice little cars. Come February I will have had it for 3 years.

No 5 speed swap unless something goes terribly wrong with it. As time gets closer I may get the heads redone or remachined. Haven't decided yet.
