I would say 6psi unintercooled and 9 intercooled with a good tune and for it to be reliable..

I read somewhere that the one in the focus can only handle 200ish.

Is the escort different internals?

^^ that may be a possibility.......though jeff knows for sure since he built his own [thumb] I was gonna say around 7psi off the top of my head, cause stock internals on the foci's SPI are well, ok I'm gonna say it......weak [hihi]. damn though, I didn't know you had 300ftlbs on that [:D]. I couldn't find many parts on the SPI, just some ignition, intake, exhaust, and the now discontinued headers from.....focus central? I love the fact that the SPI is technically a Hemi though. lol. it has good pickup though for being such a low power engine (ok, not THAT low......but still :B)

IDK why so many people think just because the spi has low power stock, that means the internals are weak?[dunno]

Jeff knows whats up.

A lot of people dont know that the SPI (CVH) was a factory turbo motor in the UK Escort RS and turbo Escort GT/EXP in the US. Only thing that has changed is compression ratio and displacment.

alright I admit.....I'm judging a book I bought from it's cover [hihi] my engine just seems a little....used, to me. yeah I'm only at 108k but I don't know. then again, they are almost ALL highway miles, so it's almost like a new engine [:)] uhh.....yeah Jeff, I'd be one of those people that didn't know the CVH was a factory turbo across the pond.....lol.

wait what?? there was a turbo escort GT??? I was gonna get one (Escort GT) but I didn't know they made em turbo. ah speaking of which, do you know what the SPI' 2.0L's comp. ratio is? just a guess, but what, 8.1, 8.9? lol.
