I know Focus Central made them before, now that they aren't around anymore, how many people do you think we might need to get someone else to make a batch?

Also I still have yet to find the guy who makes the flex pipes for the SPI.

The flex pipe guy was tin_maddog (Rusty) who moved and probably hasn't found a new welder friend yet. He pops in here occasionally and would probably respond to a PM.

At least one of you can get a used FC 4-2-1 header. I'll be selling mine when I get around to swapping the ORP back in. I'll put it up in the B/S/T forums when that happens and let you guys know.

I'm really interested in buying a FC shorty header too, once I am prepared for my exhaust ...

if you guys are up for some diy, there's a guy from canada on HMT that sells escort/ spi header flanges for around $35 a pop (i think). jeffescortlx mentioned him before too. i'll dig up the link in a couple of minutes

edit: i cant find the link [:(]

Im game if we could get some. Just and idea, what if the flange at the cat was changed to match the zetec cat, then we could run the highflow cat and their flex pipe. Would that be possible at all?

^^yuppers, and focusnewb ill take the header when you esll it just let me know a price and shipping. id rather not spend 400+ for a header.

tins flexpipe is also a good addon so you dont get that bottleneck throught the exhaust

Probably not. I'm pretty sure the flex pipe is a different shape, which would mean the cat doesn't end in the same spot under the car or at the same angle etc.

Sorry Klondike, 03_SPI has dibs, if that doesn't go through you can be next though.

I like slim's idea to have it connect to zetec parts. all that would take is just modifying the one side of the header. I think that this style header will look great with the shape of our valve cover-

I'm pretty sure you would have to modify both sides of a Zetec header to mate with an SPI head. The ports are not the same shape/spacing.

Slim was referring to modifying a Zetec hi-flow cat and flex to mate up with an OEM exhaust manifold I think......

wouldn't you just have to chop off the part that connects to the engine then make a new piece that fits on the SPI then you can connect everything else zetec onto the other side, right?

i'm no mechanic and i don't have the slightest clue about exhuast, but it makes sense in my mind.

i think, to make a zetec shorty fit a spi exhaust you'd have to replace the flange that bolts to the motor, replace the flange that bolts to the cat, and lengthen the collector a bit. pretty much you'd have to build a whole new header

edit: almost forgot that you'd have to also fab a egr connection for the spi and plu the zetec egr

No i was talking about the ending flange on the header. I think the bolt patter is different so just change it to where the zetec high flow cat can mount up to it. I think the flex pipe wo9uld have no problem with the clearance issuse.

I need some money to figure this one out. I guess get a custom header that kinda would match the zetec one and work the exhaust system from there.

This the cat im talking about. It looks to have the same spot for the O2 sensor.
Random High-Flow Cat Flex-pipe Then run it with a good exhaust set up and wala we got a full exhaust system. This would be one for all SPI owners one day.

.....that is all assuming the ports coming out of the head were the same size, shape and spacing from SPI to Zetec and I'm pretty sure they aren't.

My apologies, I thought your post was talking about modifying a cat/flexpipe for a Zetec to mate with the SPI OEM manifold (or modifying the OEM manifold to bolt to a Zetec cat, same difference really) and he was talking about modifying an Zetec header to fit an SPI.

No make a custom header that mates to our head but have the ending flange as the zetec one.

why would you want the header to cat flange as a zetec one when it is meant for our engines?

if you were to make a spi flange, cut the zetec flange off a shorty header, and weld the new spi flange onto the header so it mates to out head; you would still need to adapt the "header to cat flange" beacuse i think that the zetec cat sists at a different angle and height than the spi one (i could be wrong thought)
