I just picked up a set of autolit 104, i was wondering what should i gap them to? out of the box they are about .04 if i remember right.

Most of us gap em from .055-.060 with no problems.

Well typically the bigger the gap in the spark plug the farther the electricity has to jump resulting in a bigger spark and some increased efficiency of the burn. I don't believe it has ever been tested on a Focus but people have been doing it on cars for a long time and it certainly doesn't hurt anything as long as your ignition system can handle it. (which our cars can just fine.)
