I just replaced the power steering pump which doesn't look too good (check thread). Anyway, there's a slight acceleration, and deceleration when going at around 45-50 mph. Feels like pressing and depressing the gas pedal very little. What is wrong and could it be possible that replacing the power steering pump caused this?

Mild hesitation or surge at mid throttle cruise is characteristic of DPFE sensor problems (on its way to failure). May want to check there, especially given your car's age. Another possibility is the PCV hose needing replacement/mild vacuum leak somewhere. I doubt the steering pump is involved - "evil coincidence", as whynotthinkwhynot would say.
