Anyone thinking of buying a 2012-2016 Focus or Fiesta DCT needs to watch this video.... Personally I’d avoid the 2017-2018s also, however the court ruling is for ‘12-‘16.

See if they have any service records for it. If they do, and the clutches replaced with ‘F’ revision or later AND the rear main oil seal replaced you should be OK. My ‘13 was fixed at 95,000 mi and now has 162,000 mi with no problem after the fix.

I've not done adequate research but I believe you can mitigate many of the DCT related concerns with one of Tom's tunes.
BS. Tuning is fine for performance but you can't repair a defective transmission with software PERIOD.

The only MK3 I would buy would be equipped with a MTX-75 manual transmission.

Disclosure: I have owned both a DCT and manual MK3.

It's not that bad i own a se 2014 it doesn't shutter anymore that might be because of the rebuilt transmission it came when i bought it, but you have to drive it aggressive the first month to not have it shudder, ill be soon taking the transmission out and reinforcing it to handle more hp and have paddle shifter capability.
