Vehicle-2002 svt 6 speed
I removed the old stock shifter assemble. The previous owner thought it would be cool if he cut the old shifter to make it lower..FAIL. He also did the reverse lockout mod. The problem I'm having is this, I installed a fully new assembly and the car doesn't shift into reverse 90% of the time. I'm not sure why it would be any different. The part I got was from a 03. I set the two parts side by side and there the same. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

The shift cables most likely need to be adjusted.

Thanks for the response bumpnzx3. I reinstalled the old one and it works just fine. Not sure why the bases would make a difference if there the same. I'll see what I can do about adjusting it.

I put in a short through shifter in my car, i know thats a little different, and when i was finished i had to adjust the cables. it was pretty easy but it freaked me out the first time i tried to shift into 5th or 6th gear and it wouldn't go over that far. Adjusting it wasn't that hard.
