Well, I prefer some where in East Texas of course! Tyler, Longview, Nacogdoches? Longview and Nacogdoches are spots I could definatly help out with.
We could do it at the Stephen F. Austin campus I think. I have some connections there. Might even get the Ford dealer and some othe businesses to help out. I also know the parks and rec people pretty well. Nac is also about 1/2 way between Houston and Dallas.
If I can help out at all with coordinating this with you, let me know.
Well as much as I would like to have a meet or two in the East Texas area, I know it's just easier for most to have it in the Dallas area, being that is where majority of the members are from. A lil drive doesn't bother me as long as it's planned in advance so I won't have anything else planned. The last meet I went to, which was the one at Bone Daddies, I thought was a good success, so anything simular to that is cool. I'll leave it up to everyone else, just tell me where and when and i'll try to be there.
Well, any city near Tyler or Longview has a travel advantages. Hwy 20 and 59 are a straight shot from Dallas or Houston as well as LA, OK and actually Arkansas.
Now, I know it doesnt have as much to do as Dallas, but why keep goign to the same spots. We could get some really great pics in the scenery here. Plus if we did do it in Nacogdoches, we could use the University or a city park. Very nice places.
It is just an idea. I have some time and could help coordinate the local parts. If Mofocus would keep track of the who and how many I could probably get something going. Maybe get a radio station out there, some other local cars and support from a dealer or two. Turn it into an event. Music, food, and cars.
Another option is Shreveport. They have the casinoes there. I you are all over 21, that might be a good spot. If we did it relatively soon, they have hockey there and other sports depending on the year. I dont have any conections there though.
I would be willign to go to Dallas for a well organizaed meet with something to it, but I really wouldnt be able to help get it going too much.
i tried the HUGE metting once, we had like 50 ppl, then they all dissapeared, basically we need to decide what we want to do on the meet, how we want to do it, and then the where, the last meet was pretty cool, we met at Bonedaddys then went to the track in Caddo Mills and a few of us ran while the others watched, it was a success idsay
Well i'm not much good when it comes to ideas. Derek's (EastTexFocus) ideas aren't that bad. Sounds as if it could turn into something good and interesting, as long as we went through the trouble to advertise and try to get people to come. East Texas would be a mid point to many areas as well so the turnout could be better. I will say, I think we need a location before we plan anything else. You really can't plan on what to do and how to plan it unless you know where your going to revolve it all around. So let's set a definite location, then let's go from there.
Well, how many people are really serious? I see way more hits here than comments. If people from TX, LA, Ark and OK are serious about getting soemthing going I am happy to help. I am with Mofocus though. I am not going to drive to hang out in a Chilis parking lot with y'all. Sorry, Im sure your cool, but that isnt what I am looking for.
We need all the people interested in doind this to post ideas. Dates, places, events... etc. Dont just wait for us to do all the work then reap the benefits.
I think we could get some strip time at a track or something. Maybe get a park reserved advertise it in the paper? Have a sponsor that sells food at the event or we just get together at a park and bar-b-Q!
I am frustrated by this. How many focus owners on the board are from this area? Texas alone should have a bunch. Come on! Participate.
We need to know how many are interested before picking a place or events or anything. If we approach a local drag strip and tell them we have 30 cars coming and want to take runs some morning, they may do it. If only 5 cars show, well, we look like fools for arranging it.
haha EastTexasFocus you see what i mean now, there are tons of foci around here, they justarnt into it like we are i guess, i still wish we could get time at that motorsport ranch, it was going to be like 100 a person i think to drive at a real road course, cheaper alternative would be to just show up at a drag strip on test and tune night, i know Redline out here isnt all that busy so wed get alot of runs in, problem there its only an 1/8th, a pretty good template is 1)meet up and hang out for awhile 2)eat 3) head to a track or someother activity
I agree with you guys 100%, but lets actually DO something this time. I suggested paintball in Forney. I know there's an indoor place in Dallas as well. It's a G2G not a sit on our asses type deal. Lets make it a weekend ordeal or a full day event.
SO, now we have like 5 people? 361 views and 5 people to go?
I took a shower today and even brushed my teeth so I dont think I am running them off!
Comeon all you lookers! Post! Lets see who would actually be intereted in a GTG? Tell us a date and place you would prefer. Then maybe if enough reply, mofocus and I (hope you dont mind being volunteered) may just work something out. If you keep looking without posting, this will likely not happen.
I'm not any good when it comes to ideas, but you can count me in on whatever you guys decide on. I really don't have a preference on what we do, where or when we meet, as long as it's worth everyone's while as you have all already mentioned. I wish I could also be of some assistance to getting the word around, but no ideas on that as well. I would be willing to help out on anything though as long as it's within my means. I'm just one that has never been any good at planning and not having the spare time is also a factor.
i think Randalls trying to tell us somthing........i dunno im used to ******* paintball, where your cheap paintball guns jam up w/ cheap paintballs, so you throw firecrackers at each other, you know artillery shells become grenades, fun as hell to play at dusk
