Hi all,
I have a 2009 focus SE. started it up after it sat for a week in super cold weather. Heard all kinds of screeching from under the hood and lots of smoke(also coming in through the dashboard vents). turned it off and looked under the hood. serpentine belt was shredded. all the pulleys turn freely except the tensioner pulley and the ac compressor pulley. I can see that the tensioner pulley is totally shot(disintegrated!). I am concerned about the compressor also. Should it turn freely without a belt on it( it does not turn at all). also it looks sort of cocked. the ac started blowing warm air in the fall and i was waiting for the spring to get it checked out(don't know if it any factor at all). any thought would be greatly appreciated!!!

Sounds like you need both, A/C freezing up took it all out.

(Not turning plus cocked = cocked up)

Yup, both should turn freely and if a/c pulley looks cocked it is destroyed.
