so I noticed there are always pairs of stock headlights for sale on here and right now there are some super clear ones with like 10k miles on them, i have the same as stock only black and i want to keep the black just extremely foggy. Should i just buy the headlights and take the clear "casing" and just swap the clear parts on the headlights? or buy the other and black it out somehow?

If yours are fogging up, its probably just a leak. The only way to swap the clear parts is to bake and/or separate them. Which if you are doing that, you should be fine to just do it to your current set and not buy new ones. Just clean and dry out the insides of your headlights and then re-seal them with silicone.

Or if you want more of a project and want to keep a set of the headlights on your car. Buy a second set, open them and black out everything the way you like.

Have you tried something like this?

Most car stores/targets/wallmart's sell them for aroun $15. Should be less work than removing the lenses or getting new headlights

if its oxidation and depending how bad it is, i would grab one of those kits mentioned above or get that other set of lights and swap the lenses from the new set onto your black set.
