Se Vs. St

This kid I go to school with his parents just bought him a 2014 st, he keeps telling me how slow my car is and stuff like that. What performance mods can I do to beat him in race? I already did the snorkle delete and drop in filter. Thanks

Related to this: a Charger challenged me a little while back. Basically kept up with him while going through traffic lol.
I don't even try to race anyone in my mk3. I feel much more distinguished by not giving in to other drivers' trivial games... Plus my car is slow
I just like to mess with people haha. I am a teenager after all.

You darn teenagers! *shakes cane*
Lol! I'm one of the youngins on here haha
Get off my lawn!...(while I shine my mk3) [grinking]
I owned a 2012 Se five speed for a little over 3 years. I got my ST a month ago. Was somewhat careful about breakin and did not stomp on the gas hard until I had a 1,000 miles on it. When I did finally stomp on the gas rolling from 50mph I have to say not much (chaply anyway) could be done to make the regular Focus as fast except maybe a 100 shot NOS? LOL And then it would only be similar/close but no cigar... [woot]

Off the line it is a lot of finess anyway.(due to lack of traction). But from a rolling start. JEEZ the ST is a monster. [angel]
How many turbocharged Foci non ST have you been in ?

Anyway all foci are FWD... good luck over 300 hp..
An aftermarket turbocharged foci would rain hell on an ST I would think.

With a Ford 3.5 ecoboost engine? Or would the 2.3 ecoboost suffice?

I have built dozens of Focus over 300HP to the wheels and there a blast to drive , use some common sense and you dont have much wheel spin at all

That we can totally agree on !

It's either the car or the driver, I know plenty of super high hp FWD that can catch traction. Tom has built some super solid cars, I'm sure his run real well.
The only RWD Focus I've seen is the V8 Focus...

Better than FWD ;)

Problem often is not traction ... this can be solved with wider tires ...

but with torque steer

Higher than 300 hp it becomes harder to mitigate...

That's why you don't see a lot of manufacturer using the FWD layout for performabce cars
Wait, didn't the Diamond Star Motors / Eagle Talon or whatever they were named FWD cars come from the factory with > 300hp at the wheels? That would put SAE net HP somewhere around 330.

I remember hundreds of stories of how they were running sub 14 second 1/4 miles straight off the dealer lots. And with something like a $0.06 washer or $0.08 turbocharger modification they were running sub 11 second 1/4 miles, or so were the stories.

I believe they hold the record for quickest accelerating FWD cars in stock configuration.
Fwd can be used for high HP cars you just have to have the right setup. Anything is possible with money.
I used to know a guy with a >500hp boosted Integra and it was amazing because he set up the entire car properly.
