Thanks to my wonderful city's snow removal crew, my heat shield met its untimely demise and it was ripped from it's rotted mounting points. Is it safe to remove this heat shield altogether? This is the one below the gas tank, and under the forward muffler. Not the cat, not the header, I'm talking right around the rear wheel area, under the gas tank.
