Tom, what would it cost to convert a 2.0 to a RWD setup?? and what all needs to be done. When i graduate college, i plan on doing this conversion and boosting the crap out of a stroked cgi block motor. prolly around 30 psi or so. of course i can't do this till i graduate cause i need money first!! i know it uses a t-5 conversion kit, but i have no idea of the cost. if you have ever done anything like this please let me know as I really want to do it!!

If you get the parts from kougal your looking at about 10,000 just for the RWD converson alone , then you need engine , trans and all the goodies to get it working , I would say all said and done with what I just did with the ZX408 I built about 23 - $25,000 if you have a doner Focus

I think that he wants to keep his current motor but move the drivetrain to the back. I think it could be possible using the half of the Escape drivetrain but I'm probably 98% wrong...lol

It would take most of the same stuff as doing a v8 rwd becasue you would still have to move the motor. It could very likely turn out more pricey than the v8 due to their being more fabrication involved.

u can bolt up the T-5 w/ a small amount of fabrication and the motor has to sit like a v8 would rotated 90 degrees. I would like to stick w/ a stroked 2.0. wether it can be done or not is a different story. I know its how they make the awd kits, they have to turn the motor 90 degrees. This is something i would like to do. a v8 is nice, but a rwd 2.3 L would be one of a kind custom and thats what i want!!

I would think a custom drive shaft is all you need coming out of the getrag, and a custom shifter solution. Actually just cut the end of the bell housing off, and find a doner transmission that can mate up with the crank axel perfectly and weld it to that.

Good Morning Justin,
There are three versions of the Ford T5. The one we
machine our bellhousing for is the 4cyl one. It has a
input shaft length of 7.41" and a pilot dia of 0.59"
They were in 85 Thur 91 Mustangs.
You will keep the Zetec flywheel and pressure plate
but use the Mustang 9" clutch disc to get the right
spline. You will use the stock Zetec starter.
If you are keeping the stock fuel injection you will
keep the stock crank sensor. If you are using carbs
and our ignition you will need to send us your
flywheel for modification, but keep the stock crank
pick up.

Any rear end axle with a nice 2-way LSD would work. It's all about customizing.

Anything is possible. Like you said.. You need the money.

Ya, thats what i am looking for. It is a possible conversion, i know this much, and i would hope that it would be cheaper, but it would be something i would have to look into!!

take the motor and trans out of the 2.3 liter turbo mustang or you can get one out of a ranger
