I have an 05 ZX3 with power windows and locks that I need to run speaker wire through the doors for my new Alpine component speakers. Currently, I tapped into the stock wiring for my 4-channel amp, but this component set has a tweeter that will require it's own wiring. I investigated the door already and found a round connector that unscrews, but it doesn't look like there's enough room in the connector to run speaker wire though.

Is there another way to get new wire into the door? It's starting to look like I have to drill a hole on the body and one in the door and put grommets in the holes. My amp is capable of about 75 watts RMS, which I'm starting to think is much more than the stock speaker wiring can handle because sometimes I'll get hissing through the speakers.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

well i know on my svt there was an unused hole that had a plastic piece in it to cover the hole...i took that plug out and ran then poked a hole in the rubber boot and then ran the speaker wire thru the boot

the stock wire can handle 75w with NO problem. the stock wire is probably better quality then what you plan to replace it with. just run the stock wire to the "in" port on the crossover and use the wire that comes with the components to run from crossover to woofer and tweeter. i ran 150rms through mine for a long time didn't upgrade till about 175 watts

your right is prob equal. but you have to agree that most people do not know the difference between wires and most do not use superior quality wire and end up replacing high grade wire with lower grade wire

i used teh factory wire and a speed harness

when i did my door actuators, and ran new wire through then, i drilled a hole right down the center of that weird plug, and just ran the wire through that

my doors had power nothing though, so it depends on the car if you can do that or not

I found that plug that people are talking about, I have one above and below the electrical connector for the door. I'm going to have to run separate speaker wire for the tweeter, so I might as well run new speaker wire for the mid range woofer as well. Looks like this shouldn't be too hard, just time consuming.
