I have some VersaChem High Temp RED RTV Silicone (Type 650) for sealing my Auto Tranny Pan.

It says on the box that the curing time is 24 hours ... does this mean that I need to wait 24 hours before adding any ATF or can I fill and run the car straight away?

I ask because I have used this type of sealant before and never had to wait so long, in fact I was told that running the engine would help it cure faster.

Cure times are based on room temp That's why they are called RTV (room temperature Vulcanizing). MOST RTVs set in about an hour, BUT usually fully set in 24. If you're in doubt look up the mfrs spec sheet online. I suspect as long as you wait about an hr or two you should be fine. I wouldn't go racing until the next day though.
