Hi everyone. I have a focus 2.0 2008 mk2. I have a little trouble starting it sometimes but more worryingly the revs change rapidly for the first couple of mins from 1500 down to 200 and sometimes stalls. Once driving all is well until i brake then it happens again if i am in neutral. Once i stop its idling about 1000 rpm. The alternator was replaced a couple of years ago and seems to be ok when i asked at my mot. Anyone got any ideas?

I have a similar problem on my 2009 focus. It became a little bit better after I resoldered my dashboard but still have problems with the revs and they have become worse. Please give an update here if you find a solution.

I’d first check for vacuum / air leaks in your PCV and EVAP systems.

Once you button up all of your air leaks and the problem still persists, I’d start investigating fuel supply issues.
