I am replacing my inner water pump housing on a zetec. I ordered a new seal for the housing to block. But I noticed it is different than stock. It doesnt have the metal flanges on the backside of it to attach it to the water pump. It looks like the correct size, it just doesnt have the retainer clips to help you position it. Has anyone ran into this problem before? Did I buy the incorrect seal? It is a Fel-Pro 35619. Also if you have successfully used this seal, what did you use it to stick it to the block so it didn't move around on installation? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't have any experience with the Zetec motors. But I have to ask, did you change the timing belt when you were doing the water pump change? If the car has not had it done, this would be a good time to do it - front of motor disassembled. I would definitely consider it if it has not been done.
