Does anyone know if the nylon adjustment/bushing ends are removeable from the cables? They look like they are threaded...

Pull the orange clip out.

So it isn't threaded...the orange clip holds the cable to the plastic piece?
I was trying to remember, isn't there a second plastic piece that slides inside the cable side piece, and the orange clip engages it for adjustment?

Nope not threaded, it's all one piece if I remember right.

Okay, brainstorming..."The unbreakable, slop-free shifter bushing!"

I figured out how to use the 'grooved' cable and a C-clip, inside two drilled-out, threaded rods (for cable adjustment), and a threaded collar to lock them together...and of course, a machine bushing end on one end of the threaded rods.
