Anyone have instructions for replacing the passenger cv shaft?

Does the transmission fluid need to be drained?

Do you have to remove the strut? Or lower ball joint?

Is a realignment necessary after replacing it?

Alignment should only be needed if you take tie rod end off the tierod which you should not have to. I don't think you need to remove strut but will prob make more space. Fluid should drain out when you pull the shaft. There is a few good videos on YouTube even though for other makes still very helpful to get the basics.

You might as well remove the strut, you'll nearly be there anyway. It is possible to remove the axle without removing the strut, but you'll have to loosen the 3 bolts that hold the strut assembly in place at the top.

You will be separating the ball joint from the knuckle. You will also be removing the sway bar end link from the strut.

A large 3 jaw puller might be needed to separate the axle from the knuckle. I had severe problems loosening mine with a 3lb hammer, and I ended up breaking a puller on the second one. I don't know why that was. It appeared to be a galvanic reaction between the parts IMO, and on the new axle there is anti-seize.

I had an article around here on it, but that was for an MTX, so yours will be different. If you want to take pictures, I'm sure other ATX owners would appreciate reading about your experiences in a How-To.

Just also be aware that stuff like lower ball joint may need to be replaced if damaged.

I had to pull the whole lower arm with the knuckle, and then put it into a vise to knock the lower bolt out.

And the axle might be a little hard to get out the knuckle.

Hope these pic's help a little too.
